Jantine 3310 Ster-Preferent (Stam 46)

The Watzema family of Oldeboorn began with Tonijn, daughter of Ynte 130, born 1938, laying the foundation for remarkably successful breeding activities. We are now in 1997, and so we are talking about a period covering almost 60 years. In combination with Age (breeding class A), Tonijn brought three registered descendants: Jantine, the breeding stallion Hylke 186 and Lina 3598 star. The descendants of Jantine and Lina performed well.

Four NHS Championships
The team Everlien and Fronieca, the former by Ritske x Jantine and the latter by Ritske x Lina, won the pairs championships in 1966 and 1967. Karolien (Ritske x Lina) secured the open class single horse draught championship title in 1973 and the mare Lystar (Bjinse x Everlien) carried away the Dutch breeding mares championship in 1984. It will be clear to anybody that, having achieved these top awards, they were also much in evidence at other horse shows. Thus, the breeding stallion Hylke came out first in 1956 at a performance day, Pinksterblom (Ritske x Diena) cut a fine figure in harness, while Bjinse (Gerke x Pinksterblom) came first in the ordinary category, in Rijs and Buitenpost among other places. I count five generations of well performing horses –
Tonjin – Jantine – Everlien – Lystar – Wiebrich- as well as –
Jantine – Diena – Pinksterblom – Bjinse.

It is very impressive indeed that horses that have to take care of all the work on the farm are nevertheless capable of such achievement.
The blood structure Ynte – Age – Ritske endowed the horses with a great deal of luxuriance. When in 1966, Everlien and Fronieca took the pairs title, the jury report read as follows –
“fine gaits, sufficient cohesion, and much luxuriance”.

Tonijn was declared preferent on account of a daughter declared star and preferent, a star daughter and the breeding stallion, Hylke. In addition, she had four colts and a filly. Hylke’s offspring includes Jochem’s grandmother- Nachtegaal – as well as Wietsche, mother of the imposing Wijkje (Jelkje, Metsje, Djurre).
Jantin’s long range of daughters including one studbook mare, one model and nine star mares illustrates the fertility and quality of this pedigree. Among Tonijn’s descendants are three stallions –
Hylke, Bjinse and, recently, Hannes.
Bjinse saved, via Lammert and Peke, the Age-stallion line. We can mention three model mares –
Everlien, Lystar and Sjirkje, granddaughter of Saskia.
Lystar had excellent conformation, (model), performed well, (total prize money Dfl. 7505) and had a good breeding record, featuring best breeding group at the 1985 breeding day.
She supplied Wiebrich, (Jochem). The three last mentioned mares won first prizes and premiu56ms at breeding days and central Inspections. They follow in the footsteps of their mother, Lystar, who was champion in the yearling and two year old categories at breeding days, breeding day champion 1979 as well as reserve champion at the 1979 Central Inspection. Pinksterblom, mother of Bjinse, was foal champion, best yearling, youth champion as well as reserve champion a the 1967 breeding day. In the year of approval, the stallion Bjinse was reserve champion at the Stallion Inspection. Onaria had elegant daughters by the stallion Reitse. She was successful at breeding days and Central Inspection. In the United States the stallion Wander 352 (F. Barteld) was approved and in 1996 awarded a first premium.
